Dakatra Ltd is fully committed to achieving Net Zero in accordance with the NHS Net Zero trajectory, reaching Net Zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040 and for Scope 3 emissions by 2045.

This commitment governs all aspects of our corporate operations, clinical delivery and strategic planning, ensuring alignment with the Greener NHS programme and the sustainability expectations defined within the NHS Kent & Medway and Sussex Oral Surgery Service Specifications.

Our company-wide sustainability governance ensures that environmental responsibility forms an integral part of decision-making. A board-level sustainability lead is responsible for monitoring carbon performance, reporting progress annually and ensuring continual alignment with national and local ICB sustainability frameworks. We assess the environmental impact of all activities across our estate, digital systems, supply chain and clinical operations, and integrate this into the organisation’s long-term carbon-reduction roadmap.

Dakatra manages medicines and consumables responsibly, with a clear focus on reducing waste and selecting clinically appropriate alternatives with the lowest environmental impact. We are committed to reducing single-use plastics and increasing the use of recyclable and sustainable materials across all clinical and administrative functions. Waste is managed in accordance with the NHS waste hierarchy, HTM 01-05, and relevant environmental legislation, ensuring reduction at source, optimal segregation and maximum recycling.

Our supply-chain policy requires all major suppliers to demonstrate credible environmental performance, favouring organisations with verified Net Zero plans and low-carbon logistics. We continue to expand electric vehicle charging capability across our estate and actively promote low-emission travel by staff and partners. Dakatra has adopted a digital-first approach to eliminate unnecessary paper usage and ensures any unavoidable paper is FSC-certified and fully recyclable.
